Project Showcase: A Full Measured Survey

An architect from outside the Lincolnshire area got in touch with Newman Surveying about a project they were working on in the Grimsby area. With a face to face meeting not viable, the requirements of project were discussed at length over the phone which allowed us to provide an accurate quotation.

Our work on a full measured survey

After understanding the existing buildings were to undergo extensive refurbishment, it was agreed that a full measured survey was required.

Existing floor plans, elevations and sections were required for the architect to redesign the internal layout of the buildings as well as a topographical survey to understand the land in which the building sits. A site visit to measure the building was booked in and all data collected on site allowed for us to prepare the plans required. Once the drawings were completed in the office we sent the files to the architect which allowed them to start a redesign of the building from an accurate starting point.

FAQs

What is a measured survey?

A Measured Survey is a detailed, accurate plan of a building, both internally and externally, created as built plans are produced. It’ll need to include floor plans, sections and elevations – to produce accurate, scaled plans for property development.

Who needs a full measured survey?

Property developers, architects and homeowners may all need measured surveys. If you are looking to do a home extension that requires planning or a professional working on redevelopment or refurbishment, measured survey plans may be needed.

Why are measured surveys important?

Measured surveys provide  reliable information about a building or site. They give architects, designers and planners the precise dimensions they need to design alterations, extensions or redevelopment projects.

What does a measured survey include?

The scope of a measured survey can vary depending on the project, but it commonly includes detailed floor plans, elevations and cross sections. These drawings show the layout, structure and key features of a building to scale.
